Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Stormcast Eternal by QianweiSHI on Putty & Paint |
The new Thunderstrike armor design for the Stormcast is pretty cool looking, and I especially like the pose on their promo model for it. The paint job on this one is outstanding! It follows the regular color scheme for the Hammers of Sigmar, but is done in a beautifully executed non-metallic metal scheme. All of the transitions on the armor are super smooth, and the placement of everything looks spot on. I particularly like the warm tones they used on it. The orange hues really reinforce the heroic nature of the mini. They've even carried these warm tones over to the blues, which seem to be highlighted with more of an off-white mixed in, giving it a teal tone.
The base just uses the scenic base the model comes with, but I really like the desert tones. It's odd, since you would think that the warm tones of the sand might blend in a bit too much with the warm tones of the armor, but it works really well. The more neutral grey of the stones he's standing on helps break it up a bit, but the sand is also more of a neutral beige as well. Overall, a lovely take on the new armor style.
Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
