Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
WAAARRRGGG by Nuka on Putty and Paint |
These orks certainly look like they're having a great time! There's just something so undeniably fun about orks, and this piece really leans into it. The model for the Boomdakka Snazzwagon already does a great job of emphazing this, but the color choices and composition of the larger diorama really drives it home. The bright blue and yellow really makes it look quite cheerful, while still having the appropriate amount of orky wear and tear. The paint job itself is very smooth and crisp as well.
What really sells it for me though is the diorama base. Orks have always fit well within a desert setting, and the giant cacti are just the perfect touch. They desert plants to start, but also look slightly cartoony, which fits the orks perfectly in my opinion. The whole scene reminds me of the Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons from Loony Toons. I can just imagine this buggy chasing down someone running from them. The green on the cactus ties in nicely to the green skin of the orks as well.
Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
