Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

The Ogroid Myrmidon is a great model to convert into either a Doombull or a Shaggoth, and this is a great example of the former. From what I can tell, all that's been replaced is the ax and the head. I'm not sure where the head came from, but I'm pretty sure the ax is from the Shaggoth kit. The conversion is pretty simple, but extremely effective. What really stands out though is the paint job. They've painted up a brazier to act as the light source for this model, which is a nice touch. The Object Source Lighting (OSL) is expertly handled here. I really enjoy the warm tones on one side transitioning to the cooler tones on the other. Beyond just that, the overall paint job is great. The non-metallic metals on the shield are on point, and the stippling effect used on the rest of the mini really helps give it a sense of texture.
There's no elaborate base here, but that's fine, since the focus should rightly be on the lighting and the model itself. I like how they've even differentiated the types of shadows. His arm behind the shield is blocked from the light, but it's a darker shadow than the other side of his body that's presumably in the moonlight. It's another nice touch on a great mini!
Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
