Mini of the Week 3-5-21

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every week I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Classic Farseer by Josh Berman “Quarterpaint”

This is another great mini from the same painter as last week! Again, this Farseer embodies so many great elements from a traditional 2D fantasy/sci-fi painting. I really love that I can see the artist's hand in the brushstrokes. Unlike the orruk from last week though, this Farseer has a much colder palette and really evokes the classic Eldar colors from the 80s. I love the mystical blues and purples. This is especially evident on the lenses of his helmet. The glowing effects on the runes and his fingers are a nice touch that are subtle enough to not overwhelm the rest of the mini. I'm a sucker for limited palettes, so this one definitely checks that box for me.

The display base is a nice touch as well. It visually frames the model in quite literally, but also through its use of color. It's a much lighter and warmer tone than most of the Farseer, while also being less vibrant, so your eye is drawn to the model at the center.

Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more views of it and show the artist some love if you like it.

Until next time,

Tyler M.
