Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Now this is a really cool alternate color scheme! When I first saw it I actually thought it was supposed to be a Celestial Lion. The placement of the gold and blue works great, with your eyes drawn to the main focal points of the model, his head and the Gauntlets of Ultramar. The non-metallic metal on this is superbly done. The reflections feel natural and it doesn't feel as over the top as NMM can sometimes feel. It feels like part of the model and not just an excuse to show off some skills. I like that the blue is shiny too. It gives the model an overall polished feel. It's slightly less shiny though, which helps differentiate it from the gold more, and also makes sense for the color.
All of the cloth areas feel like cloth when compared to the metals. The colors are much flatter and more matte, as they should be. I think maybe they forgot to finish the ropes across his chest? They're very dark with very little definition at the moment. I like the choice in basing as well. The red earth helps frame in the mostly yellow toned model. Overall this is a very nice rendition of the Chapter Master of the Ultramarines.
Be sure to check it out on Cool Mini or Not to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
