Primaris Lieutenant by Tomáš "Persifal" Pekař on Putty and Paint |
This week we have another stoic looking Marine lieutenant, but in a very different style. This event exclusive model has become a favorite amongst painters, and I really like the simple head swap on him. This guy looks like he's serious. The first thing that stands out on this model is the texturing. Almost the entire model has been painted with a stippled look, giving the flat areas of the armor tons of visual interest. Importantly though, it's not all the same texture across the whole model. The head, while it appears to be painted in a similar manner, has a much smoother look, making the skin stand out from the dirtier and more rugged armor. It also helps draw your eyes to his face right away.
The base is also much smoother, with the sand or dirt appearing to be almost one tone. It's a more realistic take on ground then we often see on minis, and makes sure the model stands out against it. All in all this is a great rendition of this mini and a really interesting, and high quality method of painting it.
Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
