Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
BZZZZ by Fabrizio Russo on Putty and Paint |
What a cool little diorama. There's not a ton going on, but the conversion is ace and the mood is spot on. Stuff like this just shows that you don't need a fancy action scene for your diorama, even in Warhammer. Combining the Plague Drone parts with the Blight Drone from 40k works perfectly. It definitely looks like some kind of demonically entrapped fly. Part demon, part machine. I think the only thing I may have done differently might have been to remove the "eye" from the machine part, so that the focus is more on the fly head. The painting on this is great, with some wonderful colors. The teal green and purples work great together and the painting style is wonderfully evocative. It's smooth and crisp, but at the same time still shows the hand of the artist.
The posing of the Poxwalker in the front works perfectly with the diorama, like he's wading ahead and telling the fly thing to hold off for a second. I also really like the toxic sludge they're walking through. It has a really viscous feel to it and a really disgusting finish to it.
Be sure to check it out on Putty and Paint to see some more angles and show the artist some love if you like it.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
