Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
Sylvaneth Arch-Revenant by David Deschenaux |
The Sylvaneth have always been prime recipients for bright and colorful color schemes. Here we see just that with this awesome looked Revenant. I really like the mix of colors used on it. We still have the brown wood, but then almost everything else is bright and lively. The blue/purple wings really help frame the model, and by working blue into ground on the base it's essentially framed on all side. The skin has a purple tone to it as well, and even the wood has a bit of a purple tone to it. It all feels very vibrant and saturated. The warm colors used for the non-metallic gold and of course the glowing runes, really help break up the model a bit and add points of interest.
The paint job is fantastic as well. The non-metallic metals look great, and the wood grain painted onto the bark areas is outstanding. By using a striated effect on most of the textures everything has a slightly organic and grown feel to it as well, perfect for the Sylvaneth. The combo of the reflective blade, gold on the shield, glowing runes on her chest, and her helmet and hors create a really effective circle. Your eyes constantly travel around the model, never leaving the frame.
Be sure to check out more views of it on Putty and Paint.
Until next time,
Tyler M.
