Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
What's not to love about a cool Nighthaunt diorama? This has a great selection of minis, and also combines them in a very evocative way. You really get the sense of a wave of ghosts crashing through the graveyard. I don't think there's much conversion work here, but its really not needed. It's just clever positioning of models and making sure they're interacting with their environment. I do really like the feeling achieved with the graveyard. The tombstones and mausoleum are great on their own, but the inclusion of the extremely wispy, and skeletal branches of the dead trees really drives home the mood.
The painting on this is top notch, with smooth transitions, crisp colors, and some subtle textures to help differentiate the different surfaces. I like how it's mostly grey and the ghostly green with just spots of red and purple to catch your eye. It's really more about creating an overall mood and theme than any one particular model in the piece.
Until next time,
