Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
I've liked the Ambull mini since it came out the other year, and this is a wonderful redition of it. The color choice really emphasizes the alien nature of it, while also retaining a sense of realism. The texture painted onto its carapace is just amazing. You really get the feeling of it being a hard, chitinous material, especially when compared to the smooth areas of its skin. It also contrasts well with the gem like areas studded throughout the carapace. Everything is smooth and sharp when it comes to the blending and painting. I also really like how bright and acidic looking its mouth parts are. The base is a great representation of the Blackstone Fortress as well. All around this is an awesome version of the Ambull.
