Mini of the Week 3-7-19

Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

Spoilpox Scrivener by Artur Żołędowski on Putty and Paint

The new Nurgle models are some extremely nice sculpts, especially the demons. This guy uses a lot of traditional colors, but in a very muted, and very smooth manner. I particularly like the painting style here. It's a big departure from the 'Eavy Metal style in that there are not many stark highlights, but at the same time it's not the desaturated "realistic" style we see a lot. I would say this falls into more a comic style, with some super smooth transitions. By keeping the skin of the demon fairly muted your eye is really drawn to a few areas, the feather, giant mouth, the red letting on the scroll, the nurgling, and his stomach. I really like the use of the blues and reds to move you eye around the model. Everything on this is very nicely done, and a lot cleaner than we're used to seeing Nurgle models. It would be cool to see a Great Unclean One or Beast of Nurgle done in this style as well!

Be sure to check out more views of it on Putty and Paint and show the artist some love if you like it!

Until next time,

Tyler M.
