Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.

The Blackstone Fortress models are all pretty awesome, especially the characters. I've always had a special fondness for the Kroot, and this guy reminds me a bit of the old special edition Games Day model from when the Kroot first came out, but much better. The paint job on this is pretty spectacular. I really like how they went for a more pale skin. It reinforces the alien look, especially by using the red shading on the green skin, and also contrasts more with his darker gear. Everything is smooth and crisp, with the non-metallic metals really standing out. That chrome effect is pretty outstanding. The tattoos on his head are a nice touch too, making him feel like a real character with a backstory and history.
The base is a little simple, but it fits the theme of the Blackstone Fortress and helps frame the model nicely. I think the glow effect from between the tiles isn't up to the same standard as the rest of the model, but it's by no means bad. I really like how this guy turned out and would love to see more of the Blackstone set from Foxtails.
Be sure to check it out more views of it on Cool Mini or Not and show the artist some love if you like it!
Until next time,
Tyler M.
