Welcome back to Mini of the Week, where every Friday I will find a miniature from around the web that exemplifies an aspect of our hobby and share it with you.
The Necromancer is a classic figure, even winning a Slayer Sword once with no conversion work. I really like the color choices on this one. It almost has a monochrome feel to it, well, duochrome? It's mostly blues and greys, but with some red in the flesh, wood, and straps on the skulls. Simple schemes like this really help show off the abilities of the painter in my opinion. If you can make something visually interesting with so few colors then you're on to something. Everything is smooth and crisp, and the object source lighting coming for the eyes of the skull is just the perfect amount.
My favorite part though is the skin. They've really achieved a sickly, pallid look that suits this character perfectly. The reds in the shadows of the skins both makes him have an unhealthy, almost raw pallor, and also contrasts perfects with the blue robes around him. The fact that his skin is so much lighter than the rest of the model does a great job of drawing your eye to it as well. The red straps on some of the skulls also really draws my eye. It's a nice little spot of color and is also a really interesting color in of itself. All in all, this is a very skillfully done rendition of a classic model using a very limited palette, so, bravo!

Be sure to check it out more views of it on Cool Mini or Not and show the artist some love if you like it!
