Happy Holidays from Mengel Miniatures!
Seeing as how today is the day after a holiday for many in the US and still a holiday in the UK and Canada I figured I would take it a bit easy and let Santa Pharakh handle things.

The Truth About Hobby Shortcuts
Everyone is always looking for the next big trick that will take their hobby/painting quality to the next level with minimal effort, myself included. I have recently embarked on a quest to find the best ways to get good looking models with the minimal amount of time put in, but there's more to it than just finding the next great shortcut.

TUTORIAL: Skaven Deathrunner
When I saw the announcement for the Spire of Dawn box I was bit by Skaven fever. I have always like the rats and decided I wanted to see how quickly I could paint them up for a possible army at some point. Luckily I had the Skaven Deathrunners from the Silver Tower box that I hadn't painted yet, so grabbing one of them I got started.

EDITORIAL: Vanguard Sized Armies in Age of Sigmar
Age of Sigmar is great in the way that it lets you start out small and build your force up as you go. Every size of the game is fun to play and feels like a complete game in a way that 8th Edition or even 40k doesn't. This makes it super easy to spontaneously start a new army without any pressure of having to drop a lot of money at once, which is exactly what I did.

REVIEW: Pharos
Pharos by Guy Haley was one of the Horus Heresy novels I was most looking forward to reading since its release. Part of this is due to an awesome cover, but I'm also a fan of Alexis Pollux, the mystery of Sotha, and the Imperium Secondus timeline in general. Luckily it doesn't disappoint.

TUTORIAL: Ironjawz
I was recently toying with the idea of starting a new small 1,000 point force in AoS to diversify my armies a bit and give me a break from painting Tomb Kings and Stormcast. The orruks have always interested me, and after testing out a new way to paint orruk skin using mostly glazes and shades I decided to give a spare 'Ardboy model I had a shiny new Ironjawz scheme to see how it looks, which I have put into this handy step by step tutorial for you!
